Campaign Props on Jalan Salemba Removed

The Central Jakarta administration together with the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), General Elections Commission (KPU), and political parties in Central Jakarta, removed various campaign attributes or props or also called APK in the Jalan Salemba area last night, Friday (1/19).

Central Jakarta National and Political Unity Office (Kesbangpol) Head, Rachmat Hidayat expressed the today's operation was the result of an agreement between election organizers, participants, as well as supervisors and the city government.

Campaign Property Raid Starts Tonight

His party would hand over to the related political parties to remove banners, flags, and billboards for parties or legislative candidates whose conditions were not installed properly or did not comply with the regulations.

"For those who did not attend, Central Jakarta Bawaslu temporarily secured the attributes in Senen Sub-district," he explained.

He continued it was just the beginning and similar actions could be continued by the Joint Election Post at the sub-district and urban village levels.

"In the initial stage, we focus on Jalan Salemba, precisely from the Ministry of Social to Salemba Capitol Park Carolus JPO. After this, we will evaluate it," he added.

Central Jakarta Bawaslu Chairman, Christian Nelson Pangkey explained this action was the result of an agreement from a joint meeting held Friday (1/19) afternoon at the Election 2024 Post at the city level. It is mainly intensified against attributes that endanger road users.

"In total, there are 29 attributes that we hold in the sub-district and related parties can take them," he closed.
